Job Introduction

We are looking to recruit a new staff team to support a young lady to move into their new home and to work towards the next chapter in their life.

Being non verbal, staff will need to have an understanding of using PECS, Makaton or First/Then Boards and have experience of epilepsy also behaviours that are perceived to be challenging.

The individual enjoys crafts, listening to music and will sing and dance with staff, the individual likes to be at home but will need support to access the community to participate in activities such as swimming and cycling. Family are very important to them and will be involved going forward.

The individual works well being praised for positive behaviour.

Main Responsibilities

As a Team Leader within Gray Healthcare, you will be a front-line leader working alongside a specialist team to support an individual within their own home. We support people with complex needs, who may have a Learning Disability, Autism, Personality Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Substance Misuse issues, and people who require support with their Mental Health.

You will lead your team to deliver outstanding care, assuring quality and safety. You will develop and review support plans playing an integral role in the evaluation of these with the Multi-disciplinary team. You will be competent in IT systems; including electronic rostering and digital records. You will also spend time working shifts to develop trust and rapport with the person you support whilst leading by example.

This role will be split between on shift and Team leader duties 

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be providing direct management flexibly over a 24-hour period and providing quality assurance and full rota management ensuring safe, responsive and effective working practice. There is a requirement to work as part of his team and you may need to cover shifts at times to ensure that the gentleman receives the prescribed levels of support.

Experience with dealing with non-verbal individuals will be an advantage 

You will lead and role model for his team, oversee the rota, assist with the development of recovery plans, ensure that the PBS model is embedded within the service in line with the gentleman's strengths and needs and report on progress, risks, challenges and successes to both internal and external MDTs.

You will need to be a natural leader with great communication skills and possess an NVQ/QCF 3 in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards.

You must have a working knowledge of the Positive Behaviour Support Model (qualifications would be advantageous but not essential), be experienced in taking positive risks to enable an increased level of independence and be solution focussed when presented with challenging situations.
